Hospitals see surge of superbug-fighting products

From the Associated Press

They sweep. They swab. They sterilize. And still the germs persist.

In U.S. hospitals, an estimated 1 in 20 patients pick up infections they didn't have when they arrived, some caused by dangerous 'superbugs' that are hard to treat.

The rise of these superbugs, along with increased pressure from the government and insurers, is driving hospitals to try all sorts of new approaches to stop their spread:

Machines that resemble "Star Wars" robots and emit ultraviolet light or hydrogen peroxide vapors. Germ-resistant copper bed rails, call buttons and IV poles. Antimicrobial linens, curtains and wall paint.

Georgia ranks near bottom on hospital infections

From The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

About 1 in 20 patients gets an infection while seeking medical treatment, and the losses are staggering: an estimated 100,000 deaths every year and $30 billion in annual health care costs. Georgia has made less progress than the vast majority of states when it comes to combating central line-associated bloodstream infections, which are the focus of a national prevention effort. Even some of the state’s most highly regarded hospitals stand out in the data for poor results compared to hospitals nationwide, according to a review by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

"Healthcare-associated infections are a huge problem and they are largely preventable," said Dr. Tom Frieden, the director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, which has set national goals for dramatically reducing these infections. "It costs lives and it costs money." [click the publication name above for full article]
KleanSweep Sanitation and ByoSafe have the solution!

ByoSafe is a process of disinfection combining a proprietary mix of chemicals, ByoSolve, and electrostatic spray delivery system. The 40 micron negatively charged droplets cover all surfaces including high touch, low touch, seen and unseen. Lab testing confirms reductions of pathogens in the magnitude of log 6 and 7 across gram positive and gram negative bacteria, viruses, molds and algae, including Clostridium Difficile (C Diff – Toxin A and Toxin B), Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and many others.
