I visited my uncle in NW Iowa for his birthday party back in August. I learned that one local ethanol plant was taking all of the corn from the 4 surrounding counties. The ethanol subsidies must stop if the land is to survive. imo

I have several Heirloom tomato plants in the yard. I bought them at the Farmer's market (the tomatoes) I planted the seeds after the seeds had a chance to go through their weathering. The largest one is almost 6 months old, and EVERY bloom on it dies. I have yet to see a tomato form. I test plants from various places to see if the seeds are viable, and this year, has been horrible for the seeds I get from Heirloom seeds from stuff I get from the farmer's market. Last year was great. I got many producing plants from heirloom tomatoes from the market. This year, the tomatoes haven't been producing. I think the problem is about to explode. I'm using worms, Azomite, and various organic fertilizers for vegetables and tomatoes. This is worrying me.
