FuelCell Energy Creates Power Plant for Sharp Corp. Television Factory in Japan
DANBURY, Conn. (AP) -- FuelCell Energy Inc. said Tuesday that its Asian distributor has sold a 1-megawatt power plant to provide electric power and heat for a Sharp Corp. flat-screen TV factory in Japan. Financial details weren't disclosed.
The power plant will provide Sharp's Kameyama manufacturing facility with a portion of its base load electricity and air conditioning, while reducing its carbon dioxide emissions by 2,300 tons, FuelCell said.
C-Energy, a subsidiary of Chubu Electric Power Co., will own the equipment and sell the power and heat output to Sharp.
FuelCell shares rose 48 cents, or 4.9 percent, to $10.29 in morning trading on the Nasdaq.
