mlsoft i agree the dems are self destructing...and i say that as someone who votes dem and repub and independent, but as you know i lean toward dems (not the daschle, gephardt types that i feel have ruined the den party though)...The only one running now that has a chance, and i say chance, is dean...the others are all a joke, with perhaps kerry the least worst of the remaining bunch. Im on a kick to get Max Baucus to run....have spoken to his staff more than once..futile effort..probably...heck id vote for Gerald Ford out of the retirement home if a could over you know who

Correction, the non political part I can respond here. You are underestimating the stimulus that a reduction from $38 to $26 in crude cost have, I estimate that to be at least a stimulus of $70 to $100 B...close to 1% of GDP and much more than the spread out stimulus of the proposed tax cut. Furthermore, the extra $80 B just authorized by congress will also trickle back into the economy. These two will prevent us getting back into a recession for few quarters, and the politicos goal is to keep us out of recession until the middle of next year, at least.
