The old Kinect was more gimmicky but this new one has IR blasters in so it can control your other components. My daughter can say watch nikolodeon and it will turn the tv on and put that channel on. You can also tell it to record, and it will record the last 30 seconds of the game you are playing. For me I'm envisioning a combination of oculus rift and a Kinect for the perfect combo. Look up oculus rift.

The new kinect isn't just for games now, it can recognize when YOU are in the room and have all your settings ready to go. It's mostly going to be used for that, and voice controls like switching from TV to game just by saying it. It can also be used for controlling your tv. I personally think the xbox will be more for adult gamers then kids because of the direction they took.
If I were a kid I wouldn't care about the whole "all in one" aspect it has and would prob just want the PS4. When it comes down to it they are pretty much the same as far as gaming is concerned, the only real difference is the extra features the xbox has. It's not just for gaming anymore..
