My guess is this, very soon you will see an exodus of tech people leave the US to work in India, they can rent property and live on on the hog at 5k per year, and provide support to US corps and live like kings.
Why not, or they could just turn off the computers that run the world.
US CEO's are cutting off their balls to spite their ass....
Porter, unless you see the rest of the world coming out of the recession much ahead of us, and thus reducing drastically our current account deficit, I don't see the dollar making any significant move up. The weakness of the dollar is what make gold bullish, not the expectation of massive inflation (that might come later in few years as we try to erase debt by inflation).
