Alito Nears Partisan Win on Committee Vote

WASHINGTON - Supreme Court hopeful Samuel Alito moved toward a Senate committee victory Tuesday on a party-line vote as majority Republicans called him "one of the most qualified" nominees ever and Democrats warned that he could swing the court to the right.

The Senate Democrats, most of whom expect to oppose President Bush's pick to replace retiring Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, worried publicly that Alito might not be neutral if confirmed to the high court.

Quite a few of the U.S. and international links on Drudge also appear on Bourque. Unlike Drudge, Bourque contains many more Canadian links. Goes with the territory I guess. Bourque is widely used by Canadian news reporters.

Life is good in this planet’s neck. All is well. We’re experiencing the mildest winter since I’ve been here. Very little snowfall, mild temperatures, the days are getting longer…
Of course that sentence will be more than enough to jinx the rest of the season. I guess we’ll soon be inline for -40° temperatures, daily snowfall measured in feet, and a late spring… somewhere around August. :-)
