Christie, Who's Your Mama? Who's Your Daddy?
New Jersey is fast becoming the latest front in the war against teacher unions, tenure and quality public education, all with the help of a new front organization called "Better Education for Kids .. http://www.nje3.org/?p=5634http:// ." Not since No Child Left Behind has such a misleading, clever propaganda campaign been foisted on the public. Even though in terms of performance and community satisfaction, New Jersey's public schools are ranked as one of the highest in the country .. http://www.njsba.org/PI/goodnews/index.html , some Democrats and nearly all Republicans agree the system needs to be reformed .. http://www.northjersey.com/news/opinions/134197208_Unity__division_on_school_reform.html . And, who better to reform the system than hedge fund billionaire David Tepper, the altruistic Michelle Rhee who now gets $50,000 speaking fees as arch enemy number one of teacher unions and the biggest bully in the education reform schoolyard, Governor Chris Christie.
Bridget Harrison, a columnist for The Record in Northern New Jersey, is sounding the alarm on Christie's "education deform":
----- But the potential problem that the governor and lawmakers are ignoring is the Pandora's box that more privatization of schools could mean in terms of corruption. And in New Jersey, that's a scary prospect.
