RICO all the flags are there to show that not only was there short selling but that JPM knew exactly what they were getting from the get go....They made offers to purchase the back for 8 dollars a share then decided to decline the offer knowing very well that they could get it cheaper with the help of the Federal Government....
The problem was not that JPM Knew, it is the FDIC who knew that by shutting the Bank down early gave it the opportunity to steal it...Two days later tarp....
Also, it was not so much as the mortgages were toxic, it was the way they were represented....If they were as toxic as JPM says they were why the huge profit margin after taking them.....JPM never owned the mortgages they just found a way to make more money off them.....Ponzi scheme......This is where the criminal charges come in......If the FDIC did help them with the scheme, which we may never know.....then the Bank was taken for just the fact that it helped JPM stay afloat without it, JPM would have probably been the bank in trouble....How much will be revealed we may never know....
