Re: wbmw says instead of buying amd common before it goes up he'll wait for it to be overbought and buy puts instead.
seems like a convoluted way to make a profit on a rising stock to me...

If I had bought shares a while back, I'd be holding right now. But I thought AMD was overvalued at $30, and oh boy are they overvalued at close to $38. But will the stock go up from here, or level off? That's the uncertainty in the stock as far as I'm concerned. But I believe with absolute certainty that it will fall before the end of the year. Based on that assumption, it's better to capitalize on the fall, than to gamble on further growth. My strategy is consistent with that.

wbmw.
If I may reiterate. Had i taken your advise, I would have lost a ton of money.
I had intel when it was good, alas, that was a while back.

In any event, good luck to you and yours.

Regards

Jules

Approaching AMD with a bearish attitude right now is like walking into a casino and ignoring the fact that the odds are in the house's favor. Like those people to play Roulette, convinced their "system" can't loose.

Sure, you might make some money, once in a while, if you're really lucky, but the house rakes it in day after day...

While you plan and strategise and wait for the exactly-right moment to set your plan into action, I'm just sitting here making double-digit gains, month after month, while doing absoloutly nothing.

Good luck with your "system."

LOL!!!

Yeah, that must be the case, because nothing has changed... oh wait, maybe 2006 earnings estimates just doubled... ooops.
