I just explained to my wife what we are discussing and she said why don't you just ignore the person?
LOL!
I really do understand how it goes. I've been a message-board participant for ages. Even I, with my belief that the real winner in an argument is the one who goes longest without losing their cool, have really uncorked on people from time to time. Not so much here as at other places where I knew it wouldn't break any rules that were being enforced. <g>
Many probably would abuse such privledges which in fact could hurt IHUB's reputation.
It's guaranteed. You may not know this, but iHub had an image/reputation problem for a long time. Before my arrival of course. <g> But before the Chairman of the Board concept and Matt evolved to where they are today, people were abusing the CoB feature. There actually used to be an unwritten sort of "understanding" that "private/personal" boards could exist, so long as they weren't ticker-specific, and the abuse of one such board was the primary thing that led to my quitting my job here in 2001 after only 6 weeks. A user who is now apparently my mmmortal enemy was being unfairly censored from a board and I wasn't empowered to make it stop, so I quit. It was also happening on ticker-specific boards, and I was coming down hard on them. The aforementioned Francois Goelo was at the top of that particular list.
Anyway, that's in the past and things are VERY different here and have been for a long time, but we're sensitive to abuse and also sensitive to our reputation.
A site's reputation makes or breaks it.
