I think the reason they why they are going to a codec of DIVx because of the compression 10 times like it is stated. I have seen some video and it is really good.
Lets hypothetically that GZFX offers VOD through the satellite they will be looking for a very good compression so that downloads do not take too long.
For example,
You are on a cross country trip you turn on your satellite radio/tv and "I want to watch... USUAL SUSPECTS" tune into channel GZFX and BAMMMM!!
