#80144 RE: Drugdoctor #80142

We are well aware, Here is GNFs response E-mail regarding this...
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
We became aware of the Consumer Reports test the day before it aired in NYC.

After we found out about the article and news we contacted first NBC for the source of the test and we referred to Consumer Reports.

We contacted Consumer Reports and were able to obtain the email address used in their test. Our data base then was searched and we found the account that was used.

This I found out about the account.

It was opened in mid-October 2005;
It was prior to the new mailer being used;
It was prior to the management changing the software to handle people signing up for the "Trial Program";
Our Customer Service department actually had worked with the person and had even provided them a 30 Day extension to their trial because of the USPS mailing problems;
The account ACTUALLY was shipped titles and they were then returned. The Report was wrong that "NO Shipments" had happened;
When we present this information to Consumer Reports their reply was, "That they believe they reported fairly."

After reviewing the entire situation management, the events taking place during the time frame of the test and the corrective actions which were taking back then that management saw the problem and had been working to correct it.

As of this week I personally reviewed the Trial Program and found that only 2 members under the program did not have titles and they had only signed up within the last 24 hours of my review. I went back all the way to the date of the change in the software of the Trial Program and found that the Trial Program was working well and with similar results.

As to the Consumer Report article, it was unfortunate that it happened; however, management found the problem and has corrected it. The service to our members has vastly improved since October 2005 due to our meetings with the USPS, new mailer and continued work to improve the service.

We have reviewed the entire situation and believe that our issuing a press release in defense of the report would be not seen or really matter because we do not have the as public reach that Consumer Reports has and the growth of the membership has not slowed since its release.

I have been reminded by various counsels that, "Press, good or bad, is in fact press."

I hope this answers your question and this is the company position which is being provided to anyone making inquiry regarding the Consumer Report.

As promised, I am posting the reply email from Consumer Reports in response to my email to them about their poor review of GnF. My original email to them and their acknowledgement of receiving it is at the bottom of this message.

I will not be holding my breath for them to actually do anything about it, but who knows.

Email reply from Consumer Reports:
Thanks for taking the time to contact Consumer Reports(r). It is always a
pleasure to hear from our readers!

I'd like you to know that I have forwarded your correspondence about
outdated information in our DVD rentals report to the appropriate staff
members for their review and consideration for a possible future report.
From correspondence like yours, we get a great sense of how well our
readers think we are doing, as well as a first-hand feel of the type of
information our readers want.

Thanks again for taking the time to write. Your interest in our work is
greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

My original email to Consumer Reports and their acknowledgement of receipt:
WNBC - Consumer Reports review of Gnf.

I asked Consumer Reports to review GnF again and update their report.

My email to Consumer Reports:
I heard that Consumer Reports was mentioned on WNBC TV this morning in an article about online DVD rentals.

A rental company, GameZnFlix, was one of the rental company listed. The review stated their service was very bad. I am not sure when the Consumer Reports test was done on GameZnFlix, but I understand their service is much better now, and they also rent games and movies for one subscription price.

If your test was not done recently, it would be nice if you could test them again and update your report.

Thank you.

Who cares? Netflix has complaints up the WAZOO, but that doesn't stop the growth, does it? Gamefly has complaints up the WAZOO, but that doesn't stop their growth, does it? That CR test is a "non-issue"...IMVHO.

Cheers!
