ergo sum, Yes, I agree. Teachers don't get paid squat. Money does attract quality. But it does not take a lot of money to teach someone to read and write. If the parents have no interest in pushing their kids then well you get the picture.
I can give you several examples of people who have been succesful while coming from meager backgrounds.
My father in-law grew up in a remote part of Montana. Schooled in a wooden shack that included many grade levels. Now a Phd nerd working out at Sandia. How did he accomplish this getting a meager education in a shack? His siblings are also professionals working in the engineering and medical fields.
