I don't know why Intel doesn't do its own phones. It has nothing to lose and everything to gain. It can do its own apps processors, its own modems/RF, and its reference designs have been pretty decent.
Imagine if Intel went up against Apple in trying to design a select few gorgeous, functional, and highly optimized phones? A lot better than trying to get the crumbs from Samsung (like with the Galaxy Tab 3).
I think Samsung's success owes a lot to having larger screen sizes on their phones, so browsing is much more enjoyable.
Samsung sells so many different smartphones they eventually get a hit, their two big hits are the note which proved that there where lots of smartphone users who have no problem with big screens and digital pens, and the Galaxy brand which has a very loyal following of android anything but ios crowd.
After owning a Samsung smartphone, I can only warn others to stay away. The build quality is terrible and the TouchWiz interface blows. They make complete JUNK. Get LG, HTC or even Motorola if you need an Android...
