The companies J&J used to acquire these other strip manufacturers were either public or taken public as part of the acquisitions. But the target companies were not public themselves. However, I will ask my partner Monday to look into this. The men who ran these acquired companies, in addition to receiving king's ransom from J&J, went on to even greater success. In fact, one of the acquiring companies was also a strip manufacturer itself, but made test strips for Bayer products.
I think we have answered the "can they" question. The "will they" question remains open. Then there is a 3rd question. Will the DECN Board want to get into bed with people who undoubtedly would kill their creation in short order. I suppose that depends on the money.
