“HENRY AND THE HOOD”
One day, I was home, ALONE. I was sick and my mom had to work. I had never been home alone before. I was terrified. There were some recent robberies in the houses nearby. This story is about that day.
I lay in bed sound asleep. “HENRY!” Mom said “IT’S TIME TO WAKE UP!”. I opened my eyes with a little flutter. My stomach was aching horribly. “I don’t feel well”, I told Mom. She felt my forehead. It was throbbing with heat and pain. My hands were clammy. I had the flu. Mom said I had to stay home.
When mom left, I was horrified. I heard a scream from down the street. There was a man running out of the house of which I heard the scream coming from. He was wearing a black coat with a hood covering his face. He looked around to make sure nobody was following him or even nearby. He looked guilty.
I got my coat and my shoes, coughed, and headed outside. I followed the suspicious man. He walked into the city, but only stayed in corridors. He was hiding from something or someone. I kept on, quietly.
I knew I was not supposed to be out of the house, let alone bed! The urge to find out who this man was and where he was going kept me walking. He called for a taxi. I was ready to follow in another. I told the driver to follow the man. He said my ride was free since I was a kid. I got out and followed the man again. He walked into an old, broken building. There was nobody or anything in the building except blankets covering the shattered windows. I looked back and saw a shadow. I leaped behind a crate and hid. Another man walked in. He turned to the man with the hood on. “Did you take it?”, said the man. “ Y-y-yes boss.”, the man with the hood said. Quickly, I ran out of the building. They both looked back and chased me.
I hopped on the nearest bus and hid under a seat. The men followed. They sat on the seat I was hiding under! I had to cough but held it in. I slipped out of the seat and ran out of the bus, with the men on my tail.
I ran into the movie theater and went to a movie with only elderly couples inside. I had a quick chuckle and sat down. The men sat beside me. I yelped,
HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!! Obviously, the elderly like their movies, so I ran out as fast as I could.
I ran all the way home like I never ran before. I got in bed and hid under the covers. I heard a creak downstairs. At that moment, I grabbed my B.B. gun and shot both of them in the knee. I went back into my room and set a trap at the door. I connected a bungee cord to a baseball bat and attached a handle to the cord. When I pulled the handle, WHAM! Someone had a huge red bulls-eye on their cheek! Sure enough, that happened to “Boss.” For the man with the hood, well, he got a little bag of pepper, hot sauce and soda thrown in his face.
They both began shivering with fear of me. I grabbed my bat and told them to stand down. They agreed and the man took off his hood. He had a scar on his eye and a tattoo on his neck. They put down their guns, lay on the ground and put their hands on their head. I called the police, and it turned out that they stole $358,000! They had to go to jail for about two years. I heard a bang on the door. I reached for the knob and suddenly, I was happier than had ever been in my life. It was Mom.
