OMNI Announces Completion of Expansion Project; Expansion Doubles Capacity of NORM De-contamination Operations

CARENCRO, La., Jan. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- OMNI ENERGY SERVICES CORP. (Nasdaq: OMNI - News) said today that it has completed the previously announced expansion of its Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material ("NORM") De-contamination Facility located in Intracoastal City, Louisiana. The expansion was necessary to satisfy the increased demand for decontamination services provided by the Company's environmental unit, Trussco. The expansion will double Trussco's capacity for de-contamination services which currently accounts for approximately 10% of Trussco's annual revenues. The expansion, previously scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2005, was delayed as a result of damage caused by Hurricane Rita.

Headquartered in Carencro, LA, OMNI Energy offers a broad range of integrated services to geophysical companies engaged in the acquisition of on-shore seismic data and to oil and gas companies operating primarily in the Gulf of Mexico. OMNI currently provides its services through two business divisions: Seismic Drilling (including drilling, survey and permitting services) and Environmental Services. OMNI's services play a significant role with geophysical companies who have operations in marsh, swamp, shallow water and the U.S. Gulf Coast also called transition zones and contiguous dry land areas also called highland zones.
