I agree. Airmont is a refresh tick (with a tock GPU). We should see higher CPU frequencies and maybe some percent higher IPC from some minor optimizations. Bigger changes to the uarch are expected in a tock generation.
That's true. That being said, I asked Silvermont's lead architect about whether Airmont would be more of a "tick" or a "tock" and while he wouldn't go into more detail, he did tell me that the Atom is not necessarily on a tick/tock like cadence, implying that Airmont could have real major improvements.
