here is a picture of the groveland ranger station taken a week ago by a forest service person. there is an almost identical picture from the same spot in 1987 when the flame lengths were almost 200 feet in the background. Much of the area that burned in 1987 has 20 year old pine plantations on it... they burn extremely well.
