Drug Does Not Work Against SARS
Matthew Herper , 04.11.03, 9:39 AM ET

LYON, FRANCE - Scientists are increasingly certain they have identified the precise virus that causes severe acute respiratory syndrome. Unfortunately, one drug that has been widely tipped as a treatment for the disease does not kill the SARS virus in a petri dish, seriously denting any hope that the drug will be effective at treating SARS in people.

Some doctors had reported positive results using ribavirin, an anti-viral medicine used mostly against hepatitis C, as a treatment for SARS patients who had been worst-hit by the disease in Hong Kong and elsewhere. Unfortunately, these anecdotal results did not hold up in the laboratory, according to Klaus Stöhr, a head of the global influenza program at the World Health Organization.

In reedit, and here doubled on COO at $29.29, so far, LOD.

So they are spending $6 B to promote I-Pod? Out of ADRX here at $14.80 for another $.30. In edit and back in ERTS at $57.57...

Bear, I'm not trying to argue with you, but reading in the article they have nothing new/different to offer, except maybe for AAPL PC's...I do not believe they are going to offer anything that is not already available legally/illegally except maybe to Apple Computer users. I am not familiar with the hardware and not sure if owners can get the free/pay services I already have access to for Music...
Now if you could show me that they have some new hardware/software that alll the music industry will convert to I might get really excited... The Music business has real problems in this area and it is showing no signs of improving..

It sounds like desperation. It appears Jobs sees there is no future for Apple relying on a shrinking cult following.

Why people pay so much for media properties is beyond me. They get people to buy into the "free cash flow" model instead of the "real earnings" model.

With bloated entities like USAI and Liberty out there, there's no way you can get a good deal on a Vivendi property, as those clowns will try to out-bid.

All these people who've been chasing the "convergence" model have been burned. Buying into something based on existing media technology has not been profitable.

What's your thoughts on shorting JNPR once it cracks LOD at $8.98? Nice percentage move down to fill gap once support is broken.

You see much downside in BRCM here? TIA
