John Muir would be pleased if the lake was filled with ash and debris runoff this winter. the "hands off" policy of fuels management will probably result in the loss of many giant sequoias since the former fire suppression policy has left it outside the historical range of ecological amplitude for the ancient trees. Plenty of them outside the park on national forest that have been protected by controlled underburning that will be safe, though.
