I have not been up in arms about what Snowden uncovered as I pretty much figured it was going on and much more plus some people have far more access to far more personal data who are not in our government but in private industry.
What I do have an issue with is how easy the system is to abuse AKA: Snowden as a prime example. He can access data from almost anywhere and there does not seem to be any audit trails. I find that amazing. If there were audit trails we would know what he was looking at and maybe what he even downloaded. Heck most systems in the financial world - especially accounting have audit trails to see who input what.
I would worry about all that data as they are only touching it to sniff and then send interesting bits for further sniffing. In Europe when they listens to almost all cell phone call out of Ireland in the 90's it would go through several filters before it ever touched a human's ears.
