augie, your plan requires deploying 1 trading unit in USPIX and 2 trading units in QQQs to offset.

If the idea of using a 2x USPIX is increasing the bang/buck, then doesn't your plan - by using 3 total trading units - dilute the effect considerably? I think your 3 trading units would be better placed simply trading the QQQs directly, no?

augieboo: to the extent that you are not using all your cash, the 2X funds make no sense as long as you can take twice the position, i.e. if you have 25k to invest, why not buy/sell 1000 QQQs as opposed to taking half the position in the 2X funds. imo, the only time the 2x fund makes sense is when you are fully invested, and are trying to leverage. otherwise, you are taking unneccesary risks by initiating positions at the close, not knowing what to expect when mkt opens. although volatility occurs during the day also, there are no "gaps", allowing for a better entry/exit (altough that has become harder these days because every single day is a gap up or down, allowing almost no advantage for day traders).
