Of course an OEM manufacturer would like best performance and lowest cost at the same time. It makes like simple. Intel could give in to the demand and soon get 100% market share but at the expense of lower profits. Makes sense to start high with better performance and command a premium. The Intel Inside branding and the higher performance make the strategy viable. The 2-1 advantage may be an extra icing on the cake.
