It was the 'clicks'.
I remember calling up my congressperson to complain about something (like I do nearly everyday) and to tell them that my phone calls were being listened to when the 'click' happened. They told me someone in the house must have picked up the phone but I told them there was no one else home.
I have NO actual 'proof' because I had the phone company come out to the house and they told me that if it was the 'government' listening in, there was no way for them to know it.
On the Thom Hartmann Show today, some lady called in to say she was a committed activist and had the same constant 'clicks' that I remember. It was funny because just when she mentioned it, you could hear the 'click'.
Thom said, "are you sure you didn't hit a button or something"?
