but I don't think it would be that easy to do, technically speaking... Also deletions and re-instatements happen fairly rapidly and it would have to be a fast moving thread for the re-instated post to get lost in the "hidden page"...
However, if technically feasible, your suggestion should seriously be considered for the sake of fairness....
