Im sorry but banks did not need any convincing when it came to given out loans. They reaped huge commisions and fees by sending them through. Then they repackaged the junk and sold that. Then they bet against it all!
People always want to blame the government because its an easy target. Deregulation and our financial sector caused the financial crisis IMO. Well, that and other systemic issues like stagnant worker wages for 30 years and bla bla bla ill stop now go FNMA.
