You forgot James A. Michener's "Texas" and Larry McMurtry's "Lonesome Dove". Really as a casual Texas history buff for over 50 years I can say without reservation that Mexicans were treated very poorly and murdered with little or no provocation during that time in our history. The Alamo and the excutions at Goliad were still fresh in their minds. The rout at San Jacinto was pure blood lust and the capture of Santa Anna was pure luck.
