How do we know that instead of doing a "buyback" that he isn't doing these big buys and sells to accummulate a large position that will be retired? I've built my position from thousands to millions doing this same thing.

We don't know, but increasing the AS is not usually associated with a buyback plan. Not impossible, but not very probable either. Well know in aboout 4 or 5 weeks.
