i dont know if they cant find a buyer...i dont know that kim ever looked for one...
as for a partner, im sure kim has looked for one...im sure thats what he was hoping sial would be...thats the reason for nda...more than likely kim would have had to open up the books and given full access to the science and business end of things to give them the opportunity to determine if kblb was worthy of a sizable investment...apparently it wasnt...for whatever reason...
did the same thing occur with ssm?...im guessing yes given the fact they were involved in an mou...so far nothing there other than they will be used to process kblb's product...just like sial provides kblb with zfn's and nothing more...
are there others who kblb tried to partner with and declined...im not sure but given that kim was talking about negotiations with billion dollar companies and multiple nda's it certainly seems possible...
yet, no partners...why?...did they find out something they didnt like?...were they too far apart in what they wanted or were willing to give?...usually that means someone is being unrealistic...and if you keep getting turned down, its probably you...
there could be any number of reasons why there are no partners yet...one of them could be kim himself...a businessman can value his company...kim is not a trained ceo...he is valuing his baby...
businessmen work out a deal and send it over to the lawyers to work out the details...kim is the lawyer...thats not always a good thing...
the truth is probably a little bit of all the above and probably more...
which is why i think he went to a bank to go it alone...that didnt work...will he revisit some other partner option?...i doubt it...that ship has sailed...if he goes back, they will know he found out he was running out of options and will now be negotiating from a position of less strength than before...the offers he had will not be the same this time around...
so then... attempt new partners?...thats going to take a lot more time, nda's and longer quiet periods...apparently thats not what kim wants...
so whats left?...
