a video tour of the central valley agricultural complex would show nearly all cropland and only rare islands of native vegetation... can't sell papers showing THAT.
Humboldt County, CA, gets 51 inches of rain per year. The US average is 37. Snowfall is 3 inches.
Humboldt is a net producer of fresh water, most of it goes right into the ocean. The southern half of california uses more water than it gets as precipitation, that is why they steal it from other places and pump out fossil water. I am not getting the issue with the minute amount used in humboldt county for marijuana production... the amount diverted to grow grass for cows and other agriculture is so many more orders of magnitude that a comparison is hardly even possible. The alarmists are barking up the wrong tree if water is truly their issue. IMHO.
If you look at the picture you posted again, visualize most anywhere in the USA where agriculture is practiced. it will all be bare with dots of trees where farmsteads are. Just the opposite of the areas where tiny postage stamps of pot is grown. I am not saying that all marijuana production is squeaky clean, but i am certainly convinced that the exaggeration of the opponents is beyond reasonable.
