me too .. heaps of sympathy for Manning who i feel acted with the purest of intention .. and disgust at the way he has been treated, even the UN has complained .. hope his lawyer is as good as this article .. http://blogs.findlaw.com/strategist/2013/06/who-is-wikileaks-leaker-pfc-bradley-mannings-lawyer.html?=features .. suggests .. hang head, must admit i haven't read much about the trial, but surely it can't be as fair as a civilian one .. i don't know if some are going overboard on that point or not .. the judge i read is an experienced one .. it's good to see stenographers now allowed .. http://boingboing.net/2013/06/11/judge-in-manning-wikileaks-tri.html .. and would hope wouldn't be influenced by outside events .. all your points are good ones ..
i think Snowden, and those involved with him, could have considered Manning (i think the first meeting happened back in January?) .. he is a fellow traveler, so to speak, and maybe even Snowden was encouraged even a little to do, by Manning's act .. putting myself in his shoes it's one consideration he, and the others involved with him, should have considered.
.. am sorta at a loss here and feel this is all a bit messy .. anyway ..
it's fair to wonder about Snoweden's timing which comes also with Obama's meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping .. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887323844804578530870019687216.html .. in which cybersecurity is high on the agenda .. there could have been some intent and planning even by others involved with Snowden on that .. or was it all just coincidence?
have to say, at this time, it's shameful the way some, as that Robert Baer guy, suggesting Snowden is working with China .. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2013/06/09/robert_baer_well_never_get_him_from_china_theres_not_a_chance.html .. that sort of pure speculation disgusts me, when there is no evidence at all to base it on .. of course if Snowden has given (i don't feel he has) or does give (hope he doesn't) any of his stuff to China then his moral reason (i feel he is straight up on that) for doing what he has becomes a bit tainted .. if he ever did he would just be another common spy as these ten .. http://listverse.com/2007/08/24/top-10-famous-spies/ .. i'm hoping he doesn't let any of us who are because of our nature inclined to hope he's only doing it for all his right reasons .. though, him saying 'i haven't done anything wrong' is a bit weird .. i know where he's coming from, but he does also know he has done something illegal which regardless of why in itself is wrong ..
so yeah .. all empathy with Manning and hope he gets a 'fairer' go from now in contrast to the harsh treatment so far .. Snowden, i'm not so sure about either ..
damn, i'm really sorry to rush this .. hesitate to post, but oh well .. have to RUN .. late now :) .. Go Spurs!
