I had a guest speaker in 2003 at a CleanTech Conference from Nevada that has several 199x patents on it.
Kaspar Wire works has a spin off water treatment firm they started in the late 1990s with their own electro coagulation systems and patents. They got started doing metal finishing waste water treatment for their own waste water in the late 1980s, then took what they learned fixing their own problems to market in the late 1990s.
I have seen small outfits doing this since the 1980s. I used my own designs for cyanide and heavy metals treatment in the late 1980s.
