TRCPA - the second link doesn't seem to work? The power point link is new for me and I found it very interesting. Bullet 2 in particular had a few details I have been looking to find for some time:
2) Storage and transport efficiency
• Pellets have 2.5x the bulk density of raw EFB and can be easily transported to power plants or overseas
• Energy content from 1 truck of pellet = 5 trucks of raw EFB Wet fuel burning Pelletized fuel burning
• Palm oil mills are effective energy producers, not power producers
• Burning wet biomass fuel could result in 6.6TWh (or 55%) loss in biomass renewable energy potential. Grid transmission loss and wet fuel transport inefficiency cause significant additional losses
This one slide provides the basic information needed to calculate the total biomass pellets that could be produced from Malaysia/Indonesia and by extension the potential annual revenue stream. What should be included in that is the value of the fuel and GHG credits that might be sold, as well. That number should overall be very big.
The details you provided from the second link further underscores GL's commitment to the KDS. Perhaps even more significant, that was the first time I have seen anyone provide an equipment list for producing palm pellets. Clearly the total list of equipment is significantly less than what would be used in a more traditional plant. I would expect the overall costs to be less too.
Great finds!
Thanks,
