McDonnell's story on who paid the caterer for his daughter's wedding has changed several times...First McDonnell claimed his daughter/her future husband paid for the entire wedding...Then it came to light McDonnell signed the caterer's contract, making him responsible for the bill and he made typical lawyer-like notations in the margin...Then it was revealed since the caterer's bill was less than the $15,000 "gift to McDonnell's daugther", a refund check was issued - not to McDonnell's daughter, but to McDonnell's wife Maureen who just 3 days before the wedding traveled to FL to speak on behalf of the gift giver's company - just what a mother-of-the-bride would do 3 days before the biggest day in her daughter's life! - unless of course there was a good reason to make that trip.
I'm not sure what McDonnell's story is today. This is his final year in office and the appearance of taking a small amount of $$$ - as far as we now know so far - from someone doing business in the State has clouded any chance he'll be considered for national politics. His AG, Ken Cuccinelli, is also under a cloud of suspicion for his dealings with the same businessman - I doubt McDonnell will be asked campaign for his AG as he runs for Gov this Nov.
As for VA's AG Ken Cuccinelli, if ever there was a fraud in politics this guy is the poster child.
