That's been my point. Right now, AMD can do 2.2GHz single core in a 35W envelope, and if you are being very generous (given that no high or even medium volume vendors are using them), then they can do 25W as well. That seems to add up in some respects, given that dual core Opteron HE parts can reach 55W at 2.2GHz, but a very big question is whether they can do 35W and 2.2GHz for dual core Taylor.

Personally, I think this is beyond their capabilities, even for a low volume launch. If they can do a "half shrink" to 65nm using some interesting process tweaks, maybe it will be possible towards the end of next year. But I don't see anything happening in H1 2006 that would be competition for Yonah. If they do it in H2, it will have to go against Merom, and I think Merom will be far better positioned to overpower anything AMD can offer on 90ish nm.

1.8 GHz would be a fine start especially the 1MB parts which would still beat the 2.16 Yonah in some benches.
