Thanks, phill. This kitty had become so decrepit I've been saying for the past five years that he would not make it through the winter, but he always did. I realized about a week ago he couldn't carry on much longer. Last evening I gave him some catnip and a good petting, knowing the end was near, and he was purring and loved all the attention, so I believe his last evening was a pleasant one for him.
I do hope this is an end to my grave-digging for a while, but with so many pets the same age (got them all about when I bought my first house), there will likely be more soon. . .
