#67132 RE: Ixse #67131

Rink, EDIT: So where exactly in my reasoning do you think this is 'grasping at straws'?

That it helps AMD´s market position in a relevant way, in DTR and maybe somewhere else.

Do you expect AMD to release a lower voltage X2 part for the "X2 DTR market", or just a handful of users running their notebooks out of spec and voiding their warranties?

EDIT: I see you added this:

I think that a Mobile A64 X2 therefore has a reasonable chance of happening (say a slightly over 50% chance).

You´re now saying it could help AMD sometime in the future in case they ever release such a product.

Athlon 64/X2 desktop parts (S939, DT TDP)
Mobile Athlon 64 (S754, 62W TDP)
Athlon 64 DTR (S754, 81W TDP)

So would it make sense to somehow start pushing a Mobile/DTR S939
all of a sudden, for a market that is close to non-existent? My answer would be a clear "no".

Their next generation core in mid-2006 should offer such a configuration with the next gen platform/socket, as the roadmap projects. But by that time DC Turion should be available.
