highlandpk, how do you know DC Turion isn't coming out in January?

AMD has already shared the details about the ramp. DC Turion will sample in Q1, and production is scheduled for Q2 2006 (which is reminiscent of the schedule of the original Turion). I wouldn´t expect relevant worldwide market availability before Q3/Q4 2006. Yonah should have the premium notebook market for itself for quite a while.

That doesn´t mean that AMD can´t "introduce" DC Turion in Q1, and "launch" in Q2, like they did with Turion this year, to at least appear a bit closer to INTEL on paper (but not in significant volumes).

Considering DC Turion is still 90nm, I can only hope that they can pull in the schedule some. Their current schedule looks pretty lame.

Re: how do you know DC Turion isn't coming out in January? DC opteron was originally targted for 2nd half 2005, but launched in April. January certainly must be considered "early 2006" - no?

Yeah, that seems logical. AMD pulled in one product schedule, so we can expect them to pull in more. They've also been introducing power improvements over the life of their 90nm process, that we can only assume will continue. Hey, at this rate, maybe by January, they'll have quad core Turion running at 15W and Hypertransport 4.0 with DDR3 quad channel memory. It's "possible", right? :-)
