It is natural for consumers to want the latest and greatest OS
Are you hallucinating? Other than lunatic fringe enthusiasts people have PCs to *do* things and that means running apps. The OS is just something that lets apps run, a necessary evil if you will. I don't know anyone who would install a new OS unless it was absolutely necessary to use a new app that was itself also absolutely necessary or highly desirable.
Care to point out any possible app of interest to mainstream PC users that fits into either of those two categories as a 64 bit binary but not as a 32 bit binary?
