wick,

This is the link to where it says andy's posts were deleted. The reason given was personal attack.

I've just gone through the Managers Handbook about post removal. I don't see anywhere where you can remove some posts that are personal attacks and leave others.

Here is some of it to refresh your memory.

Guide for Stock-Specific and Free Zone Board Moderators

(These boards can be posted on by any registered free or paid member of the site.)

Note: When managing one of these boards, you have six reasons to choose from when deciding whether or not a post should be removed:

1. Duplicate – an accidental duplicate post by a member
2. Personal Attack – when someone attacks a person, with name calling, or relating to the messenger and not the message.
3. Spam – a message that is being posted promoting other sites, stock-related or not, that has no use in the discussion (for example, if your board is about Ford Motors, a link promoting amazing returns running a home-based business is worthless to the discussion).
4. Vulgarity – cursing of any kind unacceptable on your board
5. Violation of Privacy – posting of any personal identifiable information (email, real name, phone, address, etc)
6. Threat – someone threatening another member in some fashion

If it doesn’t fit into either of those categories, it should not be removed.

Question: Somebody is just being annoying! What can I do?
Answer: If someone isn’t breaking any rules or you can’t find a reason that is acceptable to delete it, there really isn’t anything to do. Maybe sending them a private message would help explaining how poorly they are coming across to everybody else. If they are just out of control, let Admin Matt know.

Tip: If you aren’t sure what to do with a specific message, simply report it via the TOS Violation link below the message. Or send Matt a private message.

Question: What if someone is bashing the same topic over and over again? We’re tired of it!
Answer: This is a part of the fine art being an Admin. The best way to handle it is by letting Matt know, it’s his job to deal with the tricky cases, that aren’t true spam, but are just flat repetitive. The same goes for pumping. If someone is just senselessly pumping, let Matt know. Neither go over well on this site.

Tip: If something is a violation of privacy – posting of an e-mail, address, phone, real name, anything of that nature, remove it immediately.

Question: Can I ban someone or remove a post without a reason?
Answer: No. Every post removed must meet the criteria you selected. The only way for a person to be banned from a single board or from the site is through Matt.

Question: What about setting up my own rules? Can I have my own rules and enforce them?
Answer: We allow some boards to have their own set of rules. This applies almost 100% to stock boards, though. Some trading groups want to cut to the chase and keep some of the babble off their boards…We allow flexibility for certain rules. Check with Matt.

Request: I ask that you not threaten people, saying “Get on topic, support this or that, or I will DELETE YOU!” This is not healthy at all. Also, please try to limit the amount of discussion of deleted posts. If someone has a problem with a deletion, direct them to IH Admin [Matt].
