Classical Liberalism as our Founding Fathers aspired to was a break from the traditional. The idea that our rights were self evident and not determined by a King or a BIG GOVERNMENT had hardly ever been considered before Thomas Jefferson and the other Patriots saw an opportunity for Freedom on this Continent seperated from the corruption of Europe. Sadly the warnings TJ and others gave re: Banks, did not stay in the forefront of thinking as should have been. Fine with me if the BIG GOVERNMENT gets out of the way and let the markets decided who thrives. SMALL GOVERNMENT in it's place to enforce a much smaller set of laws, provide, much much smaller military protectio, and provide a simple saftey net for the really bad off individuals who have no chance in the persuit of happiness.
