There is a reason iPods have a 75% market share. The reason is that when one considers the player, the jukebox software and the music store combination it provides the best, most trouble free experience - according to most reviews I have read.
Disclaimers - wife has an iPod - I do not use one. I do own Apple stock and it is up over 400% in the past two years.
Well John went shopping, headed off to Red Deer for business and took some time to check these things out. (Mr. Patience) Got lucky and hooked up with a sales guy at BestBuy that went to school with oldest daughter so that removed some angst for me, thx Levi. Got steered to the iRiver H10 5 GB. a. Removable battery about $40 I was told. b. Hard drive- Levi knows the girls' music library and figured the flash version wasn’t suitable. c. We are a Windows family and it is an MSD. epinions says it has issues with other operating systems but not an issue with XP so no problem. Text docs can be put on it he said. d. Couple of the sales cats have them and say no problems re durability. No joystick on this one, at least I call it a thumbpad. e. Don’t know about the resume feature. e. Looked pretty glitzy to me. Got a radio which you can record off of, good thing ‘cause the girls know where their music roots come from: http://www.investorshub.com/boards/board.asp?board_id=3116 Voice recorder as well as the radio. iRiver has its own FM transmitter that plugs in the cig lighter. I like the Belkin which allows it to come in the house and plug in also. Both are $50. Can do photos which would probably get used. I think it has a bunch of equalizer settings too, maybe even manual.
Reviews are mixed on epinions. The young fellas in the store say it is a better deal than the iPods. More bang for your buck.
Thx for getting me started on the path Sexton. Oh yeah $250 plus gst.
