John,
Nice post...the only thing i'd throw out is this.. I'd say the website and great service are of equal importance.

One is not more, or less important, but equal !!!

Also - They updated it significantly in the last 24hrs.
I canvassed my family, and they each came up with a movie & game they'd like to see/play. Shrek/Animal crossings & my al time favorite movie -Animal House!!

All were found via the "Search Feature", and by scrolling through the alphabetical listing...

Website is a NON-issue at this time for me. I will sign-up for the sevice over the weekend, and report back what I find, and experience on turn around time in NJ.

The design of the website is important BUT not as important as delivering a great service. The website does not even hold a candle to the importance of our service. There are many companies who have wonderful websites and deliver a poor result and are failing.

Excellent post John Gyver!

I agree. Service is number one priority!

Nothing will come of this company if we don't satisfy customers from the word go!

Hi John Gyver,

after reading your response and your PM, I decided to reply just to clarify and to apologize in public because I can not sent you a PM as far as I'm not a premium member.

1. The apology concerning this post:
http://investorshub.com/boards/read_msg.asp?message_id=8618993

I don't want to educate you, and as far as I understood you
in your posting
http://investorshub.com/boards/read_msg.asp?message_id=8615598
a reply to this one
http://investorshub.com/boards/read_msg.asp?message_id=8615084
you were talking about a "fancy" site or "state of the art" site - than something like stupid, etc. - I was talking about the actual site - that might have been the missunderstanding and that's why I posted what can be found under 1.

sorry for beeing so harsh with or on you !!

2. The clarification:

As I could read in your post that I'm replying to now, you do have a backround of 15 years of retail management and you have been one of the promoters when websites were developed -

I was one of the promoters when the websites were being developed during the early days of the Internet and until today. I fully understand the importance of having a great presentation in store and online far better than you think. I live where the rubber meets the road with the customer base. I also have to teach future managers and front line retail employees all the things they need to know including store presentation and sales tactics.

Further on you wrote -

So before you try to educate me on retail/online strategies you need to back up and understand who you are talking to.

Concerning my harsh and uneducated post I should not have written those critic's before getting aware of your "vita"(I don't have the enlish word for it - let us say backround).

Concerning my vita, and I realy hate to do this in public(but this will be my last post on ihub and noone here knows who I am,that will help me writing about all these things), but it might help to understand a little bit where I come from and why I might know about how to built up a business or web based business:
Early 80's started programing (machine language:8080's,8085's and so on) - beside my studies at three different university's in electronics, law, economics, psychology and philosophy.
During the 90's, beside my study's, I made a lot of friends who now own internet based companies and we together built up companies, educated managements of long exsisting companies concerning internet technology and security, developed security software and far better software than jpeg(not avalible for common people) - customers around the world including goverment associated sites, etc.
This is why I say I do know how to do it, I don't want to educate, but I'm getting angry if someone misses the point.
As far as we speak about the non technology side - (Inventory,DC's, Customer Care) these things are "old fashioned" and should be no problem at all(even though we had mailer problems(why didn't they take a netflix mailer and copied it - of course a different design,so we could have had them from the beginning on?),etc.) see my post:

http://investorshub.com/boards/read_msg.asp?message_id=8619035

The idea here is to built up the technology side so that you need less people(no more front line employees) - internet business results in computer based service, once the programming is done you will have far less errors due to human behavior and also you can offer great impressions(DVD clips - Game clips on seperate servers(to avoid trafic on your own servers) provided by the film and gaming industrie for free, because it is free advertising - it is just a matter of making deals with the industrie and implementing links for every film or game(no big deal at all) - of course theses are just a few examples to dream about(I think those were some of my ideas that I sent JF last year) - I think I wrote something about how to become a first mover - in this field the idea counts if you can not afford to invest as much money as other can - and yes I know : first the inventory, DC's,CS and so on :-)
And one from someone on this board about impression and promisses:

http://investorshub.com/boards/read_msg.asp?message_id=8614913

one last thing about refreshing the site, I think it was not a refreshing, because first we lost the rent buttons for films, second we lost the capability to sort(price and date added),third we lost some avalible films(from 8220 to 1239),and so on - and of course I never said that I don't trust JF your words:

The bottom line is all of us are back seat drivers in this ride. You are wanting to drive so bad you can't stand it! JF is doing the driving. If at this point in time they only choose to refresh their site then that is what we will get period. (And that is what we are getting... a refresh. If you have done your DD you would know this.) So all this talk about a new website NOW is pointless. I assure you we are in the back seat for a reason. JF has everything planned out and we are not in a position to know what that may be. So if JF feels that a refresh is all we need then I feel very comfortable with his call. If you are not comfortable in JFs direction in this matter then I suggest not investing in GZFX since you don't trust him. Anyway, have the best damn website out there does not make or break a company... it is the service. the most powerful form of advertising is word of mouth... PERIOD

I invested heavily(you can not compare it with your investment, thx for the inside in your PM and the other thing about our age here it is the same- hope I didn't make anything public from your PM) in GnF last year because for me there seemed to be NO problem to built up a nice business that would be able to compete with NFLX(that was about 18 month ago, time is a very important factor in this game) - but in this field GnF's time is running out(VOD,Film Industry, maybe some "big" players like Amazon) - why do I think so? I'm a philosopher - I see and discuss thing's long before they become reality, like the internet that we saw coming in the 80's(it was just a matter of time and money and the CERN people brought it to us because they needed to create something like it for all the data's they received during their experiments)
I think we are a "little" bit behind our scedule - and the "oldies" on this board can "sing a song" about past expieriences with GnF during the last 18-24 month.
I'm a serious investor, I stayed most of the time in contact with JF - but I'm not a adviser and don't want to be it because this business model is far to simple and I don't think he is willing to pay a few thousands of $ a day for such an easy task - I gave a big amount of money by taking some shares into save hands last year, one or the other advise from time to time last year and the share price dropped from about 0,18$ to were we are now - no problem for me, as long as we have these volumes I can get out without any big problem - this is also not my point, it is my "ego" that I have not seen what could have be seen in the beginning

The above written(my investment of time) is why I'm becoming a little bit frustrated once in a while with JF's "team" .
He know's about my frustration, so don't worry about this side of the story.
I didn't check the spelling and ihub spellcheck is not working for me - because as mentioned before I'm not a premium member - so please excuse my english :-)

All the above written is my personal opinion - and is only written to those who read these posts on this board - everything is neither "bashing" nor "pumping"

Good luck to all

vaio

JohnG...this was VERY well written!! Thanks for sharing and I totally agree with your perspective/timing of the website refresh vs new site!!

Steve :-)
