IMHO...A regressive tax is one where there is no choice but to pay it...That would make the Income tax the most regressive tax...

However, I will give you our numbers based on just driving to work and home...We are Rural...

We car pool, and drive 67 miles round trip...Or 335 miles per week...Or 17,420 miles per year for work only...

We have already already made changes for the higher price of gas...We drive a Honda Civic Hybrid at an average of 48 MPG...That is our average...We got 47.8 out of the last tank, and that is in cold weather...

That is 362 gallons of gas per year...A ten cents increase for us would amount to 36.20 extra per year....

Keep in mind that we made the choice to both buy a more fuel efficient vehicle and carpool...We are more than willing to pay 36.20 extra per year...or .69 cents extra per week...

Not a bad compromise to generate 150+ Billion Dollars per year...
