if the loopholes were truly closed (including the capital gains scam), and with the caveat of an exemption of the first 40k or so, then much of the "regressiveness" would be removed, then i think it would be closer to fair (small "f"... anytime a program has to explain itself or do propaganda in the title, my trust level dwindles)
