#1661 RE: TSXminer #1659

Do you know who the geologist in question was?

It was Duncan Bain. I have a copy of the non-compliant "NI 43-101" he prepared for US Canadian, and it is obviously not up to NI 43-101 standards, but it isn't the worst I have seen that claimed to be one, either (Dutch Gold's for Basin Gulch may hold that record for a long, long time). I believe what got Bain into trouble is two fold. First, he knew his report would never be filed on SEDAR or otherwise reviewed by a CSA regulator, and therefore could never be NI 43-101 compliant. Second, he actually gave a reserve number without a feasibility study (or any actual exploration being conducted at all) and that was the force behind the pump and dump.

He was suspended for a period of time by his professional association and since then, the only work I have seen with his name on it has been for other, um, "questionable" companies. If I were a legitimate exploration company, I wouldn't touch him with a pole of any length.

Here is a David Baines article on the suspension of Bain for his US Canadian work.
