Giveme, we've kicked this around and yes it is annoying. BUT, let's say the average sub is paying $16 a month. When we have lets say 10,000 subs and things like The Passion or The Aviator come out. It is quite possible that 5,000 of the subs will put it into their queue. They can't go out and buy 5k @ maybe $30 each, for the hot titles, which would be $150,000 add the $3,700 roundtrip postage and you are already above the total amount of that month's subscription income. Forget the advertising, paying the help, etc... Then, within a month, you have all of those sitting around gathering dust as usage has dropped to maybe 500 a month. I assume they have to try and calculate the demand and then order enough to try to satisfy the demand in maybe 2 months, With turnarounds at 7 days can get 4 out of each a month, 8 in two months, divided into the 5k and we have them buying 625 copies. Still nearly $20,000 for just one title. And about 8-10 titles come out every week. Me, if I really have to see something, I rent it from my local video store a few days or a week after it has been released. And then after smiling and sweet talking the attendant so she'll reach under the counter for the copy she keeps to obtain smiles or payola. It is impossible to fight people standing in line waiting for the few copies they get in. Or I just wait, and may eventually rent it someplace else and remove it from my queue. I guess I have just adapted to the situation whether I like it or not.
