LOL...GT...Mea Culpa. Allow me to explain....
When we moved to this small town over 25 years ago, there were only yeller-dog Democrats here, and... in most of the State. If there were any Republicans they were such a minority that they didn't even bother to try and register voters. But the Dems held huge rallies and made sure first time voters registered...as Democrats, of course.
It didn't make any difference to me because I voted for the person anyway...and to be truthful I really wasn't into politics that much so party affiliation didn't mean a thing to me. A few years later it dawned on me that I rarely voted for a Democrat ...so to help hubby who was in business for himself and not being a Dem was verboten ...(geez, I already had to overcome the stigma of being Catholic), I became a closet Republican.
Then a funny thing happened, a majority of the yeller-dogs turned into good guys and for several years now our county offsets the liberal votes that are cast in Austin.
Oh...when Annie Richards won the race for Governor of Texas...after a year or so into her term, it didn't take much to convince the few remaining Dems to cross over.
It was great to finally out myself, BTW. ;)
